Hotel guests rise 147 pct to 531,000 last month

Macau's 115 hotels and inns welcomed 531,000 guests last month, a year-on-year growth of 147.6 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced. 

Guests from the mainland increased by 213.4 percent to 418,000, accounting for 78.7 percent of all guests. 

The number of local guests (staycationers) rose by 31.7 percent to 82,000, or 15.4 percent of all guests last month. 

Guests' average length of stay increased by 0.2 night to 1.8 nights. 

The number of available guestrooms rose by 2.9 percent to 36,000 at the end of last month. Data on hotels and guesthouses designated for COVID-19 medical observation quarantine were excluded from the survey. 

Guestrooms' average occupancy rate grew by 33.5 percentage points to 50.6 percent. 

In the first three quarters of the year, Macau's hotels and inns recorded 5.04 million guests, a year-on-year growth of 111.7 percent.
