An exhibition entitled “The Man and The Forest ‘’ (人與森林) by Brazilian artist Reginaldo Pereira is being held at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex (中國與葡語國家商貿合作服務平台綜合體) next to Macau Tower, as part of a string of activities in conjunction with the ongoing 13th Cultural Week of China-Portuguese-Speaking Countries.
The event is organised by the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macau). A series of exhibitions, themed “Lusophone Polychromies” (葡光十色), by artists from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, East Timor and Macau is presented to the public between June and December at the complex.
According to the exhibition statement, Pereira was born on June 22, 1971 in Bom Jardim, Maranhão state in northern Brazil. He aspired to be a draughtsman and canvas painter. He moved to São Paulo where he enrolled in the Brazilian Academy of Arts (ABRA). He has displayed his artwork in a number of solo exhibitions since 1992 in Brazil and Portugal. The statement said that Pereira uses mainly white, black, yellow, red and blue as these colours form a great harmony in his canvases.
The statement quoted Pereira as saying that “with the language of the colours, I understood that there is a world wrapped in peace, joy, understanding, compassion, and courage.”
