Residents eligible to buy a home ownership scheme (HOS) flat in recently-built Cheng I Building in Ilha Verde were able to pick up their keys from the Housing Bureau (IH) yesterday.
Some Cheng I flat owners said they were very happy to receive the keys to their new homes despite having been waiting for many years, with one even saying that they had been waiting for two decades.
After receiving his front door key from IH staff members, an HOS owner surnamed Lai told reporters at the bureau that he was extremely satisfied with his new two-bedroom flat for him and four family members.
Lai, accompanied by his wheelchair-bound wife, said he had submitted his application for an HOS flat 20 years ago, adding he believed that since there had been some changes in his application this was probably the reason that there had been a delay in processing his application.
