The Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) announced in a statement yesterday that the government will ban “unmanned aircraft activities” over the peninsula during the 68th Macau Grand Prix, which will be held from tomorrow to Sunday, to ensure a safe environment.

The definition of an unmanned aircraft includes radio-controlled aircraft, drones and remote-controlled kites.

According to the statement, unmanned aircraft operations that are not conducted by the government will be banned during the three-day motor-racing event. The ban comes as a means to ensure that the event will be carried out in a safe environment, as well as to “ensure clearance for the tracks”, the statement added.

The statement noted that the ban is done in accordance with “Article 66 of the Air Navigation Regulation of Macau approved by Executive Order No. 43/2021”.

The statement stressed that those who do not comply with the ban are subject to a fine ranging from 2,000 patacas to 20,000 patacas.
