A Vietnamese female domestic helper was arrested last week in Iao Hon district for stealing a metal rolling shutter recently, according to a statement from the Public Security Police (PSP) on Friday.
The statement said that a resident reported to the Public Security Police recently that a metal rolling shutter worth about 3,000 patacas had gone missing. The victim told the police that the rolling shutter was originally placed outside a shop, and the victim suspected that it had been stolen.
According to the statement, PSP officers scrutinised the area’s CCTV footage and identified the Vietnamese lady as the suspect. The officers arrested her last Tuesday in Rua Dois do Bairro Iao Hon (祐漢新村第二街).
Under questioning, the woman in her forties admitted that she had stolen the metal rolling shutter out of greed. She told the police that she had attempted to sell the shutter to a waste recycling store. However, the store refused to buy it from her. She then left the shutter in the street, according to the statement.
The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, according to the statement.
