The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau said in a statement last night that the State Council has appointed Wang Zhimin as director of the Liaison Office, replacing Li Gang as the central government’s top official posted to Macau.
According to the statement, Wang, aged 59, was born in Fujian’s Xianyou county. He graduated from Fujian Normal University’s Faculty of Economics and Law. Wang holds a doctorate in economics.
The statement pointed out that Wang was a deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council until his posting to Macau.
