The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement yesterday that it has integrated the tourism+ across different sectors and “raised Macau’s profile” as a safe destination, highlighting the different initiatives that the office has taken.
The statement noted that office’s efforts helped steer the tourism industry towards recovery and with the stabilisation of the COVID-19 pandemic, rejuvenated the economy.
With its dedication to developing the “cross-sector integration of tourism +”, the statement highlighted some of MGTO’s ongoing efforts. These include continuing to work with e-commerce companies to launch online promotions for Macau’s tourism products in its “tourism+ e-commerce”, inaugurating the Macau Grand Prix Museum in June for its “tourism + sports” and organising the Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo in July for “tourism + MICE”.
Moreover, to create job opportunities and raise domestic demand, the statement pointed out that MGTO and its industry partners launched the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project, which will run until next month, and has provided “continuous relief”. The statement added that opportunities were created to support tour operators’ launch of the “Macao Highlights Tours”, also adding that “mega events” in Macau and the mainland were held while following the COVID-19 pandemic prevention guidelines as part of its online and offline marketing initiatives.
The statement also noted other efforts such as MGTO regularly carrying out inspections in its “licensed establishments” and operations to promote Macau as a safe destination and completing “the review study for the Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan” this year. Being a member city of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), the statement added that the office devised the first monitoring report as a Creative City of Gastronomy, while training programmes and activities were also arranged by MGTO for tourism sectors to “enhance their expertise through self-learning online”.
