The Macau Association for Stray Dogs and Animal Welfare (MASDAW) is launching a crowdfunding campaign that aims to raise 1.2 million patacas to relocate to a new shelter by mid-March due to needing to leave its current premises, according to a statement by the association.

The statement noted that the association is “facing the biggest challenge of its history” and calls on the local community and businesses for help due to having “no major sources of income from the government or large corporations”.

The statement pointed out that the funds will mainly be used to cover renovation such as drainage and building kennels for a new shelter. The statement stressed that the association “will not survive and the lives of over 130 dogs under MASDAW’s care will be lost” if help is not received from the local community. The association also needs to continue fundraising towards the amount of 1.5 million patacas for its annual expenses.

The statement provided three options for receiving donations, which are through its bank accounts (in patacas) in BOC (Bank of China) account number 13-01-20-024733 or BNU (Banco Nacional Ultramarino) account number 9012 686 823. The association also accepts donations through its MPAY QR code. After transferring donations, the statement noted that donors need to send a proof of transfer to info@masdaw.org, or to facebook.com/masdawmacau.

Moreover, the statement said that the association is also selling charity vouchers priced at 300 patacas through volunteers, adding that vouchers for those aged below 18 are also available at 100 patacas. Other forms of support include “association membership, dog adoption, fostering a dog, donations (food, leads, collars, harnesses), and even volunteer work to help the association (design work, walking dogs, administrative work)”.

The statement noted that business owners and professionals may also put a donation box from the association in various premises, adding that “event organisers suggest donations at functions or weddings instead of receiving gifts or lai-sees [red envelopes]”.

The poster provided by MASDAW earlier this week shows the details of the organisation’s funding campaign, including bank details and QR code for donations, as well as the various ways that people can help it.
