The police have identified at least three suspects in a fraud case in which at least 82 victims lost 71.14 million patacas that they invested in a local investment company, which also paid out a total of HK$8.84 million in bounced cheques, Judiciary Police (PJ) Director Chau Wai Kuong announced yesterday.
Chau spoke to reporters at the Tourism Activities Centre (CAT) in Zape about the case which the victims started reporting to the police last week.
Chau said that by Monday night 82 people, mostly locals, had made reports to the police about the case, including six mainlanders, a Hongkonger and a blue-card holder. Two of the victims were staff members of the company.
