The Macao Water Supply Company Limited said in a statement yesterday that the construction of the Seac Pai Van Water Treatment Plant is completed and it officially came into operation yesterday.

According to the statement, the Seac Pai Van Water Treatment Plant mainly supplies water to the islands area including the University of Macau campus in Hengqin, Coloane, Cotai and some areas in Taipa, with a daily capacity of 130,000 cubic metres. The statement noted that along with the 4th Raw Water Pipeline to Macau, the total water production capacity of the whole city will be increased to 520,000 cubic metres per day, effectively relieving the pressure of the water supply of the Macau peninsula’s water treatment plants and realising a complementary water supply layout between the north and the south, further ensuring the safety and stability of the water supply of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).

The statement said that the Seac Pai Van Water Treatment Plant won the “One-Star Certificate of Green Building Design Label” of the China Green Building and Energy Saving (Macau) Association (China GBC Macau). The statement pointed out that the plant follows the green and low-carbon concept of “circular economy and energy conservation”, and is built in accordance with Macau’s master plan, with the conservation of land, energy, water, materials and environmental protection as the design principle.

The statement also underlined that the Pulsatube, Pulsazur and Aquazu V Filter processes used for the Seac Pai Van Water Treatment Plant are proprietary technologies of SUEZ, the parent company of Macao Water, adding that specifically, Pulsazur is a technological highlight of the water treatment at the Seac Pai Van Water Treatment Plant. The statement also pointed out that Pulsazur is a water treatment process adopted for the first time in Macau, which can effectively remove residual odour, organic matter and micro-pollutants from water.

Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) Director Susana Wong Soi Man said in the statement that the commissioning of the Seac Pai Van Water Treatment Plant cooperated with the 4th Raw Water Pipeline to Macau and the distribution network, forming a complete public water supply system for raw water, water production and water transmission, changing the situation of unidirectional water supply from north to south in Macau and forming a dual core water supply layout for the peninsula and the islands areas, effectively enhancing the capacity of the water supply system in case of emergencies.
