An exhibition entitled “Figurative Paintings by Lok Hei – Patriotic Life” (家國人生─陸曦人物畫作品展) by local artist Lok Hei (陸曦) is on display at the Municipal Affairs Bureau’s (IAM) ground-floor gallery until December 15.

The event is sponsored by the Macau Foundation (FM) and is part of the Macau Artists Promotion Project (澳門藝術家推廣計劃) of which Lok is the 99th participant.

According to a statement by local artist Chan Hou Seng (陳浩星) from the exhibition board, Lok believes that “the core for a country is a home, and the core for a home is a human. The source of life is a soul.” Lok also said that Macau’s development success is due to the nation’s support and people’s hard work and efforts.

Chan also said in the statement that Lok is good at drawing portraits which show feelings and emotions by drawing expressions on faces and gestures in detail.

According to a statement from the Macau Foundation (FM) website, the exhibition consists of over 80 portrait drawings, most of which were drawn in ink while others are in watercolour. The statement pointed out that the portraits show the people and their customs that are closely related to Macau. The portraits also depict the lifestyles of some of the nation’s ethnic groups.

The exhibition runs until December 15 in the ground-floor gallery at the IAM headquarters in Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. It opens daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures, visitors need to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code when entering the gallery.
