The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday at 3.13 a.m. that a man was found with burning charcoal inside a car in Estrada Flor de Lótus and the public hospital later pronounced him dead, according to a statement by PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam yesterday.
According to a PJ investigation, the victim’s wife came home from work on Wednesday night and discovered that her husband was not at home and had switched off his smartphone so she immediately called the police, Ho’s statement said.
Afterwards, the Public Security Police discovered a car in Estrada Flor de Lótus where they found the unresponsive victim slumped over in the driver’s seat. All the doors were locked and burning charcoal was found in a metal bowl behind the driver’s seat. Firefighters broke the door window and rushed the victim to the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre. Two suicide notes were found in the car, according to Ho.
The victim was a 41-year-old local man surnamed Lou.
A preliminary autopsy found no injuries. The deceased had been ill in recent years. The case has been preliminarily classified as dead body found. A forensic examination will be carried out and the Judiciary Police are continuing their investigation into the case, according to Ho’s statement.
