A total of seven residents under the age of 18 were caught last year visiting the mainland to take drugs, compared to the eight reported cases in 2014, a senior Judiciary Police (PJ) official said yesterday.

Lei Hon Nei, a deputy supervisor at the PJ Narcotics Division, spoke to reporters outside the Barrier Gate checkpoint, where the Judiciary Police arranged for members of its “Youth Guide to Fight Crime” scheme to conduct a promotion campaign with the aim of preventing young people from going on drug-taking trips to the mainland.

The members, all of them secondary school pupils, distributed leaflets to passing youngsters and talked to them about the harm of taking drugs.
