The Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) has announced that its officials, in conjunction with officials from several other government entities, have repossessed an undeveloped plot of land covering a total area of 23,324 square metres in Avenida Olímpica (奧林匹克大馬路) in Taipa.
According to a DSSOPT statement on Monday, the 23,324-square-metre area comprises a plot of 19,620 square metres whose land concession had previously been annulled by the government and a government-owned plot of 3,704 square metres which had been illegally occupied. The officials carried out the repossession earlier that day of the two plots that are located next to each other.
According to the statement, the government had ordered the respective leaseholder and occupants to clear all the items and return the plots to the government by a specified deadline.
According to the statement, the leaseholder had cleared most of the items, but a small area was still occupied by someone after the deadline. Consequently, the statement said, DSSOPT staff and officials from the several other entities took action on Monday and repossessed the plots, which are located opposite Flower City Garden.
According to the Official Gazette (BO), the government announced the annulment of the 19,620-square-metre plot’s land concession in March last year, as the leaseholder had failed to develop the plot listed in the concession agreement within the contractual period.
According to the gazette, the plot, the provisional concession of which expired in 2006, was initially slated for a commercial-cum-residential project.
