The government announced yesterday that the Macau Yat Yuen Canidrome Co. Ltd. will have to shut down its greyhound racetrack within two years, and the operator will need to find another location if it wants to continue dog racing.
Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac announced the decision when speaking to reporters at the Macau Business Support Centre (MBSC) where he attended a press conference hosted by the Economic Services Bureau (DSE) about a six-month-long campaign to promote consumption in local neighbourhoods.
The government announced in November last year that it would extend the greyhound racing concession, which expired at the end of last year, for 12 months to the end of this year, pending a study on dog racing in Macau.
