Local resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) held a prize-giving ceremony for the 10th Youth Achievement Programme (YAP) at Galaxy Macau’s Banyan Tree Hotel in Cotai yesterday evening.
YAP is co-organised by the resort operator and the Macau Management Association (MMA). The ceremony was attended by various guests including MMA Council Chairman Tommy Lau Veng Seng, GEG Director Philip Cheng Yee Sing and Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) Student Department Head Chan Iok Wai, among others.
A GEG statement noted that this year’s final competition focused on “national development and strengthening the participants’ understanding of the Guangdong Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin” and the “overall development strategy of the country”. The participants visited Hengqin and also participated in “a simulated entrepreneurship competition”, which imitated the “Inno Valley Hengqin” setting. With a winning business plan for a tutorial matching app, the team “TutorNest” won the final competition.
YAP’s 10th edition also provided a number of training activities and lectures for its participants, such as “GEG Online Career Talk: Strong in Face of Adversity” and the “YAP Social Networking Series”. The statement noted that a visit to the “Base for Young People’s Education of Loving the Motherland and Macau” was also arranged to cultivate participants’ patriotism while providing a thorough understanding of Chinese history and culture.
Moreover, a comics competition was also set up with the aim of motivating the public to get vaccinated as well as achieving herd immunity.
The ceremony also welcomed the programme’s new intake for the following year. The statement added that the 11th edition of YAP will focus on developing trends in “Big Health” and “Technology” and strengthen the knowledge of health and innovative ideas of the local youth, as well as preparing them for future challenges.
