Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Guilherme Ung Vai Meng said yesterday he expected sales at the Tap Seac Craft Market to do well despite the city’s economic downturn.
The biannual event inaugurated in 2008 is Macau’s first large-scale platform for the display and sale of cultural and creative products, also featuring music performances, according to a statement by the Cultural Affairs Bureau.
Ung made the remarks on the sidelines of the event’s opening ceremony in Praça do Tap Seac.
Asked by reporters if he worried whether Macau’s economic downturn would lead to people spending less during the event, Ung said: “It depends on the quality of the products. But I think Macau’s residents are not so poor that they can’t afford even a pair of earrings!”
