A local man and a woman from the mainland were arrested separately on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in fake employment, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said at a press briefing on Friday.
The 39-year-old female suspect surnamed Wang claimed that she works as a domestic helper. The spokesperson said that she actually worked as a hustler (扒妹) in local casinos. The 42-year-old male local suspect surnamed Hang told the police that he works as a technician.
According to the spokesperson, when Wang went to the Immigration Department in Pac On in Taipa on Wednesday to renew her “blue card” (non-resident work permit), the immigration officers discovered that she never performed her supposed job as a domestic helper as she was unable to provide the officers with any information about her employer and where she worked. PSP officers discovered that Wang met her fake employer (Hang) last year. As Wang wanted to remain in Macau, she asked Hang to assist her in arranging a fake job for her to obtain a “blue card”, promising to pay him 20,000 patacas for the deal. However, Wang never paid Hang any money, according to the spokesperson.
PSP officers contacted Wang’s fake employer based on her blue card’s registration information and told him to report to a police station on the same day. Under questioning, the duo admitted to committing the crime.
The duo have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of involvement in fake employment, according to the spokesperson.
