Performers shine at int’l dance-fest

Hundreds of dancers from 17 countries and regions participated in a vibrant parade to kick off the International Youth Dance Festival 2016 at the St Paul’s Ruins yesterday. 

The opening ceremony took place at the landmark where 10 local dance groups and 17 dance groups from places like Australia, Greece, and Lithuania performed. They then paraded along Rua da Palha, Rua de S. Domingos ending at the Sao Domingos Church. Later in the evening, an outdoor performance titled “Youth Dance for the Passion of the ‘Silk Road’” took place in Praça do Tap Seac.

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng and Education and Youth Affairs Bureau Director Leong Lai attended the opening ceremony.
