The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) noted in a statement on Boxing Day that there were over 40,000 visitor arrivals on Christmas Eve.

According to the statement, the city recorded 40,284 visitor arrivals on Friday, which was the first time the number had exceeded 40,000 since Labour Day in May. The statement said that during the week of December 17-23 there was a total of 170,616 visitors, or 24,374 visitors per day on average.

The statement said that hotels’ daily average room occupancy rate was 52.5 percent between December 17 and 22, adding that it had increased five percentage points month-on-month.
