The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement yesterday that the 21st Macao City Fringe Festival will take place from January 12-23.

According to the statement, the festival will feature 20 programmes and 15 outreach activities, as well as the “Art Exhibition for All” after adopting the concept of “All around the city, our stages, our patrons, our artists”.

The bureau said that from January 12-17, the art exhibition will be held at the space next to Flower City Park and then at the leisure area in Praça das Orquídeas from January 18-23. An on-site “improvisation zone” will also be available for the public.

The statement noted that those interested may submit their artwork with a filled-in application form to the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building in Praça do Tap Seac during office hours from January 4-10, at the space next to Flower City Park between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. on January 11, or at the exhibition sites from January 12-23. The statement added that application forms can be downloaded at www.icm.gov.mo or www.macaucityfringe.gov.mo.

This edition of the festival will include a number of programmes such as the participatory performance The Sound Theatre Back Home from the Edinburgh Fringe Showcase, Dancing Veins of “Crème de la Fringe: Todos Fest!” and the show Body-Specific!

The statement said that tickets are available at the Macau Ticketing Network, while online registration for the outreach activities can be made at www.icm.gov.mo/eform/event. Registration and enquiries can be made by contacting the bureau on 8399 6872. Further information about the programmes can be found at www.macaucityfringe.gov.mo or the Facebook page “Macao City Fringe Festival”, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the statement underlined that participants have a chance to win prizes in the Journey of “Margin Break” Lucky Draw on the Fringe Festival’s Facebook page until January 5.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, the statement emphasised that all the festivalgoers must wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks, and present a valid Macau Health Code.
