The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement yesterday that the review process of the “9th Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making” has been completed, with eight candidates having been selected to receive grants.
The statement noted that the programme received 28 applications. In no particular order, the statement listed the eight selectees as Siu David, Wong Man I, Lei Wai Cheng, Tang Si Weng, Lai Ka Pou, Kan Ka Kei, Leng Carmen, and Vong Si Weng.
The statement pointed out that each of the selected candidates will be provided with a grant of up to 170,000 patacas “for the production and promotion of the respective fashion design samples”.
The eight candidates were selected after an initial and second review by an adjudicating panel, which included Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre Senior Manager Ng Ian Io, Louis Vuitton Macau Company Limited’s Store Director Wong Ieng San, and local fashion designer Robert Lai, the statement said.
According to the statement, the bureau launched the Subsidy Programme in 2013 to create opportunities to enable local fashion designers to participate in international fashion shows and fairs. Moreover, it enables local brands to be launched in mainland China to promote the “professionalism and industrialisation of Macau’s fashion design industry”.
For enquiries about the selection results, the statement noted that they can be made by contacting IC Official Ms Lam on 8399 6205 during office hours.
