The Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) is presenting the shows “Letter from an Unknown Woman” today and tomorrow, as well as “World” from January 14-15, according to a statement re-sent by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) this week.
The statement pointed out that Letter from an Unknown Woman was devised by influential mainland theatre director Meng Jinghui and is adapted from a 1922 book by Austrian author Stefan Zweig. The show will take place at the CCM’s Grand Auditorium where “highly praised” mainland Chinese actress Huang Xiangli creates “an incisive portrait, bringing to life a woman trapped in a cascade of sweet feelings and hurtful thoughts”, the statement pointed out. Meng’s “unique scenic grasp” will also be showcased, which also contains visual effects in a “geometric and minimalist three-dimensional setting”.
The show will last approximately 100 minutes and will be performed in Putonghua with Chinese and English subtitles. Ticket prices will range from 150 to 300 patacas.
Meanwhile, the statement underlined that “World” by prolific mainland contemporary choreographer Wang Yabin will take place at the CCM’s Small Auditorium the following week. The show will merge “movement and spirituality”, where Wang will decode “an art she learnt to master”, as well as explore “contradictions and emotions” in the minds of dancers alike. The statement pointed out that Wang will also mentor a workshop hosted by CCM.
The statement said that tickets are available at CCM’s box office, which is located in Avenida de Xian Xing Hai, Nape, and at Macao Ticketing Network outlets at various prices and discounts. Further information can be found visiting www.ccm.gov.mo or calling the credit card ticketing hotline at 2840 0555.
The statement emphasised that the COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures by the Health Bureau (SSM) are followed, requiring audiences to wear a facemask, undergo temperature checks and present a valid Macau Health Code.
