World's COVID-19 tally tops 300 million, nearly 5.5 million deaths: report

The world's COVID-19 tally now stands at over 300 million, while the death toll is close to 5.5 million, worldometers.info reports today. 

According to the US-based real-time statistics website, the global novel coronavirus tally amounted to 300,878,257 at 3:14 p.m. (Macau time) today, when the death toll stood at 5,490,340. 

The US (59.5 million), India (35.2 million) and Brazil (22.3 million) topped the tally. The three countries also recorded the highest death tolls. 

Macau's tally stood at 79. No COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Macau, which confirmed its first novel coronavirus case in January 2020.
