An exhibition entitled “Visions” (境界) on display at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery until January 22 is showcasing about 30 artworks by 20 students and professors from the University of Macau (UM), according to a statement by the private foundation earlier this week.

The exhibition is co-hosted by the foundation and UM’s Centre for Arts and Design, Department of Arts and Design, and Department of Communication.

The statement underlines that the exhibition aims to synthesise Chinese and Western artistic concepts, incorporate arts and technologies, and strive to transcend the conventional boundaries between art and design.

The statement highlights that Macau has been a cultural, technological and commercial meeting point for China and the West for half a millennium.

The statement points out that the exhibition displays “a mixture of creative works” by art professors and master’s and doctoral degree students from the UM’s Centre for Arts and Design, Department of Communication, and Department of Arts and Design.

Exhibition curator Leong Lampo (梁藍波) is the academic advisor to and director of the Centre for Arts and Design of the University of Macau (UM).

The statement says that art mediums used by the artworks include contemporary ink and oil paintings, watercolours, illustrations, photography, ceramics, visual communication design, product design, autostereoscopic animation, digital art, video animation, and interactive installations.

The Rui Cunha Foundation’s gallery is located on the ground floor of 749 Avenida da Praia Grande. It opens Mondays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. It closes on Sundays and public holidays. Admission is free.

All visitors to the gallery must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code.
