WTT players arrive in Macau to prepare for tournament: Sports Bureau

The Sports Bureau (ID) said in a statement yesterday that the players of the WTT Champions Macao 2021 China Stars presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) have arrived in Macau and will be preparing for the tournament at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from January 19-23.

According to the statement, world-leading table tennis players, such as Olympic champions Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin, Liu Shiwen, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu and Sun Yingsha as well as Macau player Cheong Chi Cheng, will be participating in the three categories: men’s singles (16 players), women’s singles (16 players) and mixed doubles (16 pairs).

The statement noted that the first two matchdays will feature rounds of 16 matches in all categories, adding that the semi-finals and finals of the men’s and women’s singles will take place on the last day of the tournament, which is on January 23.

The bureau reminded ticket holders to arrive an hour before the first match of the day. The statement also said that online ticket holders should collect their tickets at the counter in the lobby of the multisport pavilion.

The statement underlined that the organisers of the event will strictly abide by the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures and make arrangements when needed.
