Two Filipinos were arrested on Tuesday night in Rua da Praia do Manduco for selling and taking drugs, with the police seizing 2.15 grammes of ice with an estimated street value of about 6,000 patacas, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a special press briefing yesterday.
The duo are a 36-year-old non-resident worker who told the police that he works as a deliveryman surnamed Pascua, and a 29-year-old jobless man surnamed Lariosa.
According to Ho, the Judiciary Police received a tip-off recently that a Filipino was selling drugs to compatriots in Rua da Praia do Manduco. PJ officers identified the suspect and took action on Tuesday. The officers arrested the suspects at night when they were in the midst of a drug deal. The officers seized a small packet of ice kept in a cigarette case. Pascua told the police that he bought the ice from Lariosa. Both tested positive for drugs.
Ho said that the officers then went to Lariosa’s home in the neighbourhood and seized a small quantity of ice as well as some drug-taking paraphernalia. Lariosa told the police that he bought the drugs for his own use and then sold some of them to his compatriots to make some money. Ho said the police believe that Lariosa had been selling drugs for two to three weeks.
The duo were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing charges of selling and taking drugs, according to Ho.
