The “2022 Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Tiger” is slated to take place on Thursday and on February 12 (Saturday) in the central and northern districts with various activities, according to a Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) statement on Friday.
The statement noted that the parade is themed “Turning the Fortune by the Mighty Tiger”, telling the tale of “Tiger General’s victory over a winged (epidemic) beast”, which will also have a multimedia dance drama with the same theme. An opening ceremony will be held on Thursday at 8 p.m., featuring guest performers and local and mainland performance teams.
A firework show will also take place at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, conveying “festive blessings and wishes for the Olympic Games Beijing 2022” to be held smoothly. Two other firework shows are slated for 9 p.m. on February 7 as well as on the Lantern Festival on February 15, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the statement underlined that the parade floats will be displayed at the waterfront next to the Macau Science Centre from February 4-11 and in Praça do Tap Seac from February 13-20.
The public can also join an online game and vote for “the most beautiful floats” from February 3-20, where golden ingots can also be earnt by participants who log into the game daily, the statement added.
The statement pointed out that the ingots can be used to redeem prizes from different merchants. Moreover, participants can earn 10 more golden ingots to redeem gifts and e-coupons on either date of the float parade. The statement said prizes will be sent to recipients as e-vouchers by SMS to be redeemed at local businesses.
MGTO underlined that it will collect opinions from the public during the parade through a questionnaire survey, which can be answered by scanning on-site QR codes posted during the parade and float exhibition, or on the parade’s promotional website and online game page from February 3-20.
A souvenir will be awarded upon completing and submitting a questionnaire, the statement said.
