The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement on Friday that it is launching two limited tours for the Chinese New Year (CNY) for its “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project that incorporates the upcoming firework shows.
The tours are slated for February 3 (Thursday) and 7 (next Monday), as well as for the Lantern Festival on February 15, with two itineraries enabling those who join the tours to watch the fireworks either on a cruise or from Penha Hill.
On the cruise, the statement noted, tour participants can have a buffet dinner on the Macau Cruise vessel while watching the firework display, while also viewing “festive-seasonal flowers” at the Taipa Houses and learning about Macanese culture at the Taipa Houses Museum.
Meanwhile, on Penha Hill, tour participants can have a buffet dinner at Riviera Hotel and watch the fireworks from Penha Hill. The statement added that tour participants will also visit the “Spring Festival floral exhibition” at the Taipa Houses and the Taipa Houses Museum.
To ensure a safe distance during the meals, the statement pointed out that the catering establishments have arranged “small-sized tables for tour participants”, while participants can have meals separately with a 100-pataca dining card on routes where restaurants do not have the same arrangement.
MGTO emphasised that the local tour project operates in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) COVID-19 pandemic prevention guidelines such as the requirement for participants to wear facemasks, undergo temperature checks, and present a valid Macau Health Code.
The statement added that tour participants must also scan the contact-tracing QR codes (venue codes) using the Macau Health Code app upon entering public establishments during the tours.
Those interested can sign up for local tours through travel agencies under the project or at information counters in six local hotels and resorts. Visitors are also welcome to sign up at full price, the statement said.
