The 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K, jointly organised by the Sports Bureau (ID) and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, will be held on March 20, an ID statement said yesterday.
According to the statement, two race categories will be held, namely the 10K and the Fun Run (approximately 5 km), with a total of 10,000 places available. Registration starts this Saturday (February 12) at 9 a.m. for the 10K race and on Sunday (February 13) for the Fun Run at 9 a.m. The statement pointed out that potential participants may register online via the event’s official website www.macao10k.com.
The statement noted that Sands China is sponsoring the event for 8 million patacas.
The statement said that the Fun Run race will start at 7 a.m. and the 10K race at 7:30 a.m. from Sai Van Lake Square. The statement added that the 10K course runs along Avenida Dr Sun Yat-Sen, Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre and Sai Van Bridge, with runners finishing inside the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. The statement noted that 6,000 places are available for the 10K race and 4,000 for the Fun Run.
The bureau underlined that in compliance with anti-pandemic measures, all participants are required to have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the race, adding that participants are required to make their own arrangements for the COVID-19 test (NAT) and present proof of a valid negative COVID-19 test result (inclusive of race day) before being permitted to take part in the race. The bureau urged participants to pay attention to and cooperate with the government’s anti-pandemic measures and quarantine requirements upon entry into Macau, stressing that no cancellation or refund will be possible for confirmed registrations.
The statement also said that participants are advised to prepare and practise for the event based on their own physical conditions, and to read the guidelines and regulations carefully.
