The “2022 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2022MIECF)” will be held from March 31 to April 2, the organiser said in a statement yesterday.

The statement noted that the three-day event will be held at The Venetian and is themed “Commitment to Green Development, Moving Towards the Dual Carbon Goals”, with the exhibitions and forums focusing on topics such as carbon neutrality, and green mobility considering the central government’s 14th Five-Year Plan and carbon emissions peak and carbon neutrality goals.

The event will also integrate online and offline elements to assist international experts, scholars and traders in obtaining information on environmental protection and creating “green business opportunities”.

The event will be hosted by the Macau government, co-organised by the provincial and regional governments in the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, co-ordinated by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), in conjunction with the support of various entities such as the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in Beijing, among others.

With a number of online activities, the statement noted that the event will be a platform for exchanges and co-operation between the environmental sectors from the mainland, particularly the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), and their “international counterparts” to promote the central government’s green “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI), as well as the “dual circulation” green economy concept.

The statement underlined that the event’s offline activities comprise the “Green Forum”, where speakers, enterprise representatives and policy makers will be brought together to share their views about carbon neutrality, and the “Green Showcase”.

Meanwhile, the “Green Showcase” will offer a “Green Mobility Zone” showcasing “alternative fuel vehicles and associated equipment”, as well as a “Greenovation Zone” for green technology.

Various activities such as Green Matching and Green Public Day will also be organised to enable cooperation and exchanges in environmental protection and spread its message to society, the statement noted.

Moreover, the event will provide an online business matching service from March 20 to April 2. Through different online and offline services and on-site industry exchange sessions, the event aims to assist enterprises in business matching and networking, welcoming participation from exhibitors and traders, the statement added.
