The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday that due to the recent rainy weather, the Coloane Municipal Cemetery is undergoing repairs estimated to take 45 days.
According to the statement, the hill slope near the cemetery collapsed recently due to torrential rain and soil erosion. The statement pointed out that measures have been implemented to temporarily tackle the issue, adding that the current state could endanger users, so it is undergoing repairs.
The statement said that the bureau has been examining the collapsed area and has implemented slope protection measures by installing drain pipes and steel mesh to prevent the situation from deteriorating.
The bureau reminded residents that during the repairs, some of the area will be blocked off, urging them not to enter the area.
