A non-resident worker was arrested last week for exposing his private parts to three female passers-by in three separate incidents last month in the area near Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon and Alameda da Tranquilidade, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspect surnamed Liang, who is in his thirties, is from the mainland and works as a construction worker.

According to Lai, a woman in her twenties reported to the police on July 4 that someone had touched her buttocks when she got off a bus in Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon. She turned round and saw Liang hurriedly leaving the scene. Later she saw him again near Alameda da Tranquilidade and Liang kept on raising his eyebrows to attract her. When the victim came forward to ask Liang what he was doing, he ran away.

Lai said another female victim reported to the police on July 5 that she saw Liang behaving strangely behind an iron pillar on the road side near Keang Peng School in Alameda da Tranquilidade while walking her dog in the area at about 8:45 p.m. on that day. Liang suddenly turned around and exposed his genitals. After scaring the victim he ran away.

According to Lai, PSP officers located Liang at about 9 p.m. last Wednesday near Rua dos Hortelãos and immediately put him under surveillance. When Liang walked near Block I of Alameda da Tranquilidade Building, police officers trailing him saw him suddenly masturbating in front of a woman who was walking towards him. PSP officers immediately arrested Liang.

Upon questioning, Liang admitted to masturbating in the street. However, he claimed that in the first of the three cases he accidentally touched the female victim’s buttocks because he was in a hurry. Concerning the second case he claimed that he had merely forgotten to zip up his flies because the weather was too hot. He claimed that he had hidden behind the pillar to zip up his flies and was not aware of any passers-by.

Liang has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), facing exhibitionism and sexual harassment charges, according to Lai.
