SJM Resorts signed a collaboration agreement with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) to cooperate on two initiatives to carry out the government’s policies of “Developing Macau through education” and “Cultivating talents for the development of Macau” by working together to develop local talents, the resort operator announced on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the two initiatives comprise “School and Corporation Collaboration” and “Parenting Education Training”. A signing ceremony titled “Cultivate Talents and Build Macau Together” was held at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort’s Grand Pavilion on Wednesday.

Concerning the “School and Corporation Collaboration” initiative, the statement pointed out that the resort operator will partner with Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional under the DSEDJ to “cultivate and retain local vocational and technical professional talents as Macau diversifies its economy”.

The statement added that in forming vocational and technical training courses, specifically digital technology, SJM will offer guidance and advice to the school, as well as assign experienced or qualified personnel to give students professional guidance and hands-on training opportunities to enhance the professionalism and recognition of these courses.

Meanwhile, with the aim of imparting “positive values through education and building happy families”, the “Parenting Education Training” initiative will have SJM working with the bureau for the implementation of parent training programmes, the statement underlined. The programmes aim to boost parents’ knowledge and skills while guiding their children through various stages of childhood, and arrange a positive foundation for positive parent-child relationships.

The agreement was signed by DSEDJ Director Kong Chi Meng and SJM Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Daniel Shim Ming-yi, and witnessed by Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau Gou Renmin, and SJM Managing Director Angela Leong On-Kei, the statement underlined.

SJM Chairman of the Board of Directors Daisy Ho Chiu Fung was quoted in the statement as saying that the resort operator was pleased to work with the bureau and Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional “in nurturing local talents in applied technology and in promoting parenting education training programmes” in line with the policies “developing Macau through education” and “cultivating talents for the development of Macau”.

Ho was also quoted as saying that SJM “fully supports” the government’s 2nd Five-Year Plan and will increase efforts in nurturing local talents and “instilling in them the spirit of loving the Motherland”.

Moreover, Ho also said in the statement that SJM will continue to support young people to take advantage of opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, as well as to “help foster the integration of Macau into the national development plan.”
