A local man was arrested last Wednesday for punching a security guard and urinating in the public area of a factory building in Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga (雅廉訪大馬路) last Monday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said at a press conference yesterday.

The suspect surnamed Chan, who is in his forties, told the police that he works as an electrician. The victim is a 22-year-old Nepali non-resident worker.

According to Leong, the Nepali doorman who works in the factory building reported to the Public Security Police last Monday night that he was attacked by a man who afterwards urinated in the building’s lobby and property management office. The victim told the police that the man reeked of alcohol when he entered the building earlier that night. According to the victim, the man then messed around in the building, punched his lower chin and urinated in the building’s lobby, the management office and on a chair, resulting in cleaning costs of 3,000 patacas.

Leong said that PSP officers scrutinised the building’s CCTV footage and identified Chan as the suspect. The officers told him to report to a police station last Wednesday. Under questioning, Chan admitted to committing the crime. He told the police that he went to a friend’s home to drink earlier that day.

Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of causing property damage and trespassing, according to Leong.
