Concerts to showcase classics: IC

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a recent statement that two concerts will showcase a collection of “Chinese and Western classics from different periods of time” at the Macau Cultural Centre’s (CCM) Grand Auditorium in Nape and the Broadway Theatre at Broadway Macau in Cotai at 8 p.m. this Saturday.

The bureau underlined that the concerts will feature famous conductors and musicians from the mainland along with the Macao Orchestra and the Macao Chinese Orchestra.

The Macao Orchestra, the statement noted, will present the “Charming Romance” at CCM’s Grand Auditorium. Under the China National Opera House’s Chief Resident Conductor Yuan Ding, the orchestra will collaborate with pianist Hao Duanduan to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.4 in G major. Brahms’ Symphony No.1 will also be performed.

Simultaneously, the Macao Chinese Orchestra will perform “Enchanting Tunes from the Screen 3” at the Broadway Theatre. The Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Foundation is the event’s venue sponsor, the statement said.

The statement added that the concert will be conducted by Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra Resident Conductor Hong Yin. It will feature young soprano Wei Jiani and local singer Sean Pang Veng Sam, who the bureau said will collaborate with the Chinese orchestra to perform theme songs of “classic and popular television and film productions” like A Love of No Words, and Titanic.

In line with the Health Bureau’s measures, the statement noted that event participants must wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check, present a valid Venue QR Code and Macau Health Code, maintain social distancing and follow on-site anti-pandemic and crowd control measures.

The statement said that tickets for “Charming Romance” are priced at 250 patacas, 200 patacas and 150 patacas, while tickets for the “Enchanting Tunes from the Screen 3” are priced at 200 patacas, 160 patacas, 140 patacas and 120 patacas. The tickets can be purchased through the Macau Ticketing Network.
