According to a Melco statement earlier this week, a number of its volunteers joined Chairman and CEO of Melco Lawrence Ho Yau Lung and Melco’s Chief Advisor Kent Wong (黃昇雄) in its Simple Acts of Kindness 2.0 initiative, visiting the Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ (FAOM) Coloane Ka Ho Elderly Nursing Home.

Macau Federation of Trade Unions is known as Gung Luen in Cantonese.

The statement noted that the volunteers were welcomed by FAOM Chairman Lee Chong Cheng, Ka Ho Nursing Home Dean Ung Vai Ha and Deputy Dean Lau Wing Sze.

After performances from Melco volunteers, Ho played a board game with the seniors, “learning first-hand how the game helps to exercise their cognitive skills”.

Moreover, Ho and volunteers went to Hac Sa Beach to assist in a clean-up. The statement quoted Ho as saying that it is crucial for Melco to give back to the community, saying that: “When the pandemic hit in 2020, we launched ‘Simple Acts of Kindness’ to encourage colleagues to participate in volunteerism”.

The statement quoted Ho as saying that more than 8,000 Melco participants had taken part in volunteering in 2020, adding that he was proud to see the number doubling to over 16,000. “I wish to thank all the colleagues who have participated, as well as our community partners”, Ho said.
