The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement earlier this week that it will celebrate National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival (colloquially also known as “Mooncake Festival”) by staging an event titled “Commemorative Performance of the 76th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China and the Haojiang Moonlight Night – New Acrobatic Show ‘Swan’” on September 30 and October 1 starting at 8 p.m. at The Venetian Theatre in Cotai. Ticket sales started yesterday.
Haojiang is Macau’s classical and poetic alternative name that is still very much in use today, primarily in formal, literary, or cultural contexts.
Jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Beijing and the local government’s Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture, in conjunction with the bureau, the commemorative performance is supported by integrated resort operator Sands China Ltd., the statement said.
Produced by award-winning Guangzhou Acrobatic Arts Theatre Co. Ltd., “Swan” tells the story of acrobat Yu Meng’s dedication to training and transformation in pursuit of success on stage, according to the statement. The show aims to guide audiences between “dream” and “reality” through a blend of national-level artistry and visual spectacle, the statement added.
Selected for the National Arts Creative Fund Programme and honoured with the “Outstanding Production Award”, the performance is delivered by choreographer Zhao Ming, in conjunction with artistic director Wu Zhengdan, founder of the renowned “Shoulder Ballet”, together with a team of leading artists, the statement said.
Inspired by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” ballet, the production integrates Chinese acrobatics and music, aiming to present a fusion of Chinese and Occidental arts, the statement added.
The bureau said that tickets are priced at 200, 300, and 400 patacas, adding that holders of Macau ID, student, teacher, senior citizen, or disability assessment cards will receive a 50 percent discount. Tickets are available from Enjoy Macao Ticketing, with Cotai Ticketing sales to be announced lateron.

This poster released by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) on Tuesday promotes the New Acrobatic Show “Swan” taking place at The Venetian Theatre in Cotai on September 30 and October 1.
