Macau's Sports Bureau (ID) said in a statement this afternoon that in order comply with the COVID-19 prevention and control measures by the Macau government, the 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K event, originally scheduled to be held tomorrow, has been cancelled.
"The organisers apologise for the inconvenience caused to the participants due to the cancellation of the event," the statement said.
The statement underlined that "in response to the changes in the epidemic situation in the nearby regions, after serious consideration and evaluation by the organisers, the 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K organised by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau has been cancelled. The organisers once again thank the participants for their understanding and cooperation. The registration fee refund arrangement will be announced in due course."

Sands China was the the event's title sponsor.
Macau's COVID-19 tally stands at 82, not including 54 asymptomatic cases, according to official data. No COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in Macau.
