Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Tam Weng Keong said yesterday that a Taiwan resident lost around 427,851 patacas when gambling online.
Tam revealed details of the case during a regular press conference. Tam said the victim gambled online in Taiwan in May, adding that the website was purported to be run by an investment company.
Tam said the company required the victim to deposit the equivalent of 427,851 patacas into a Hong Kong bank account to gamble. The victim gambled and won some money, but Tam didn’t say how much.
