Legislative Assembly (AL) President Ho Iat Seng said yesterday that a newly added proposed amendment to the Legislative Assembly Election Law, which would ban lawmakers who give up their seat for personal reasons from standing as a candidate in the resulting by-election, was not against the Macau Basic Law.
Ho made the remarks yesterday at the Pac On Ferry Terminal construction site in Taipa where the government organised a trip for lawmakers to inspect the long-delayed project.
The proposed amendments to the Legislative Assembly Election Law will be discussed in the legislature for the first time on Tuesday.
