Local artist Coco Cheong Ut Man is presenting her paintings in an exhibition titled “Our Precious Moments”, which is dedicated to her grandmother, at Creative Macau in Nape.
Cheong depicts the “precious moments” with her grandmother through the paintings. “[The] majority of my childhood memories are about the love and happiness my Grandma has brought me”, the artist said in a Creative Macau statement.
The statement noted that Cheong described her grandma as her guardian angel. “The way she protected me was unique”, adding that despite being pinched or hit by her grandmother at times, “I could see tears in her eyes at the station when I had to leave”, the statement added.
Cheong lived in Taiwan with her parents as a child and is “imperceptibly influenced by antiques, jades and wood carvings”, the statement pointed out, eventually turning into an interest in “Oriental colours and culture”.
The statement underlined that most of Cheong’s works are acrylic on canvas, with inspiration derived from friends, family or daily life. Through her artwork, Cheong hopes that her work will continue to bring people happiness, the statement underlined.
The exhibition runs until April 30 and is open from Monday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., except on public holidays.
