A total of eight drone shows for the Light up Macao Drone Gala 2022 are slated for the Labour Day holidays on May 1-2, as well as on May 7-8 at Nam Van Lake, according to a statement from the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
Under the theme “Macao for All Seasons”, the statement noted that various elements such as festivals, events and “unique architecture” will be integrated into the show. The statement added that 880 drones, an increase from 300 last year, will be choreographed to present 3D patterns.
Moreover, outreach activities such as a “gigantic drone” display and a drone formation design contest will be launched, with information to be released in due course, the statement said.
Promotions for the upcoming shows will also be done through offline and online channels such as WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book), Douyin and various travel influencer platforms, in addition to promotional videos, according to the statement.
The statement underlined that spectators must wear a facemask, undergo a temperature check, present a valid green Macau Health Code and scan the Venue QR Code and maintain social distancing upon admission to the audience area.
Performers and staff of the event must follow the Health Bureau’s (SSM) “Prevention of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia – Advice on the Management of Collective Festive Events, and Recreational and Sports Activities”, such as completing two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or take a nucleic acid test (NAT), the statement pointed out.
Moreover, the statement said that with the drones being subject to variations in wind speed and rainfall rate, MGTO will inform the public if postponements or cancellations are required.
