A local schoolboy adjusted two CCTV cameras’ angles due to an “emotional” problem, is now facing an aggravated property damage charge, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Leong said during yesterday’s regular press conference.
Lam noted that the police received a report on Friday, saying that someone had moved the two CCTV cameras at the pedestrian underpass near the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, from looking into the tunnel to facing the ground.
According to Lam, the CCTVs recorded a boy wearing a school uniform adjusteding the angles of the cameras last Wednesday, and the action affected the functions of the two cameras as they could no longer monitor activities in the tunnel.
Lam said that the police identified a 17-year-old secondary school student and arrested him at a building in Zape on Saturday morning. Lam added that under questioning, the schoolboy admitted that he committed the offence, claiming that he did it after school for “emotional reasons”. Lam said that the boy has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an aggravated property damage charge.
Lam urged people not to move or damage public property as it could lead to legal consequences.
