MGM has donated 300,000 patacas to the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop project for the 10th consecutive year, according to a statement from the resort operator on Monday.

The statement noted that the donation was made to “fund the distribution of food hampers to nearly 400 local households in need”, with MGM having donated a total of three million patacas to the project.

MGM’s management team members and the Golden Lion Volunteer Team, visited the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop on Monday.

The statement underlined that the cheque was presented by MGM President-cum-Chief Strategic & Financial Officer Kenneth Feng Xiaofeng to the president of the Board of Trustees of the Macau Holy House of Mercy, António José de Freitas, on Monday. Beneficiary organisation representatives such as Macau General Union of Neighbourhood Associations (UGAMM) Supervisory President Leong Heng Kao and Board of Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) Vice President Sam Iat Kuong were also present.

The food distribution was completed on Tuesday, concluded in two days in line with the Health Bureau’s (SSM) pandemic prevention measures. The statement said that MGM “specially designed compact, portable and reusable handcarts” for the distribution.

Each food hamper contained daily necessities such as rice and cooking oil, which were packed by the resort operator’s management team and more than 20 Golden Lion volunteers, the statement underlined.

The statement pointed out that the food hampers were delivered to families in need referred by “FAOM, UGAMM, the Macau Holy House of Mercy, and the Associação dos Familiares Encarregados dos Deficientes Mentais de Macau”.

The statement underlined that MGM has been supporting the Welfare Shop since it launched in 2013.
