The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement on Saturday that it is organising a photo contest where photographs of past editions of the Macau Grand Prix will be collected, with selected photographs displayed at the Macau Grand Prix Museum.
The statement noted that the contest focuses on photographs related to the Macau Grands Prix between 1954 and 1979.
The statement underlined that contestants must be aged 18 or above, complete an application form with a written description of up to 100 words, along with the submission of one to five photographs. Submissions can be made until May 31. The statement said that participants can send the documents via email to mgpm@macaotourism.gov.mo, or hand them in person at the museum office hours (Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
According to the statement, selections will be made by an MGTO-appointed jury based on four criteria: the link between the photographs and Grand Prix theme; rarity of photographs; clarity of photographs; content and textual description, to determine the top three winners, and award five honourable mention prizes and 10 participation prizes.
Winners will receive cash prizes of between 500 and 6,000 patacas as well as museum tickets, the statement pointed out. The list of winners will be published on the museum’s website. Further details can be found at mgpm.macaotourism.gov.mo.
Meanwhile, the statement noted that a Macau Grand Prix-themed café next to the museum’s entrance opened on Saturday.
MGTO Deputy Director Ricky Hoi Io Meng was among the guests present during the café’s opening. Integrating “tourism + sport + culture and creativity”, the café sells coffee, special Grand Prix-themed drinks and light meals, as well as local cultural and creative products. During the first month of operation, those who purchase a ticket to the museum can receive two discount coupons for limited offers (one discount coupon for drinks and one for souvenirs), the statement noted.
