Sam Hou In, head of Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) Exhibitions and Museums Department, announced yesterday that the bureau will launch a string of events starting next month in celebration of International Museum Day.
Sam made the remarks yesterday during a press conference at the Macau Grand Prix Museum about the series of events taking place in conjunction with International Museum Day.
The annual International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18.
According to Sam, 20 local museums will be participating in the annual “Macau International Museum Day Carnival 2022”, which will take place on May 29 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Iao Hon Market Park.
Meanwhile, according to a statement handed out during the press conference, a number of museums will be hosting a string of events to celebrate the International Museum Day. The statement said that the Tung Sin Tong Historical Archive Exhibition Hall will host “Tung Sin Tong Little Docent –Guided History Tour” on Saturday. The statement pointed out that students from the Tung Sin Tong Secondary School will be acting as little docents and leading the tours.
Moreover, the Communications Museum will be hosting a “Draw My Story of Stamps Contest 2022” to encourage and discover new artists to participate in creative arts and designs, using stamps. The statement said that participants can submit their work by mail or take it in person to the museum before July 27.
In addition, the Macau Grand Prix Museum and Macau Science Museum will be open free of charge on May 18. The Macau Grand Prix Museum said in the statement that it will roll out four sessions of parent-and-child workshops on May 15 and 22. The statement pointed out that there will be 3D car printing workshops and candle glass holder workshops, at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. respectively.
