Three programmes for the 32nd Macao Arts Festival have been cancelled owing to COVID-19 pandemic control and prevention measures in the mainland and the artist groups therefore being unable to come to Macau, according to a statement yesterday from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
The statement pointed out that the cancelled programmes are Xiao Ke (May 7-8), Electra (May 12-13) and I Am a Moon (May 27-28), with the bureau arranging refunds for those who have bought tickets for them. The statement noted they can contact the Macau Ticketing Network until June 30 for the refunds.
Moreover, the statement underlined that the schedule of the Performing Arts Gala, originally slated for May 20 to May 22 , will also be changed due to the mainland’s pandemic prevention measures, with the performing group Jinjiang Hand Puppet Arts Protection and Inheritance Centre being unable to visit Macau.
The bureau thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation, the statement said, adding that it will continue to monitor the pandemic’s development and act in line with the Health Bureau ‘s (SSM) prevention measures.
