A local man was arrested after dragging his wife by the hair and smashing her against a wall in the middle of a quarrel on April 21, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei announced during a regular press conference on Friday.
According to Lei, the local suspect, surnamed Vong, and the victim got married in 2018. Lei added that, however, the couple often got into arguments, so the victim decided to take their son to her mother’s home late last year. Lei pointed out that the couple had rarely kept in touch since then.
Lei said when the victim wanted to pick up some personal items from the suspect’s flat on April 21, they got into an argument. Lei said the suspect got mad and started dragging her by the hair and smashed her head against a wall. Lei added that the victim then reported the case to the police.
Lei said when the Public Security Police (PSP) officers arrived at the scene, they also requested the Judiciary Police for follow-up. Lei pointed out that the victim told the police she didn’t need to be taken to the hospital. Lei said that the police also discovered that when Vong was unhappy about his four-year-old son crying, he used to slap his face and choked him.
Lei said the suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing domestic violence charges.
