Public Security Police (PSP) officers arrested five suspected procurers early last Wednesday morning involving two separate cases, PSP spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said during a regular press conference on Friday.
According to Cheong, when PSP officers were patrolling Cotai early Wednesday morning, they intercepted a woman and found out that she was involved in prostitution and illegal currency exchange. Cheong pointed out that after questioning her, the police officers arrested a man for being involved in illegal currency exchange. Cheong said that the man also confessed that he worked as a pimp and charged the sex worker intercepted earlier that day HK$500 every time he referred a client. Cheong said that the two suspects, who both are in their twenties, have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
Meanwhile, Cheong also announced that on the same day, PSP officers arrested four mainlanders, two men and two women, for procuring, plus three women for working as prostitutes at a hotel in Cotai. Cheong said that the four suspected procurers, aged between 20-40, admitted that they helped the three sex workers to “find clients” and charged them a HK$200 “referral fee” for each client. The four suspected procurers have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
